MILL ROAD Classic meets contemporary

From Bedouin to Bibimbap House and The Sea Tree to Scott’s All Day, Mill Road has more than its fair share of great eateries – and as of this month, there’s one more to add to your must-visit list! Fancett’s, located at number 96, will offer diners a classic neighbourhood bistro experience, with wine, cocktails, French-style cooking and excellent English produce. The restaurant is the project of Holly and Dan Fancett, who previously ran the popular North Street Bistro in BurnhamMarket, North Norfolk. “It was really successful and very similar to what we’re doing with Fancett’s,” explains Holly. “Our lease ended and we decided to move to Cambridge – it took us a long time to find the right venue, but the more research we did, the more we realised we wanted to be on Mill Road – it’s buzzy and we love the support of the independents that the community shows in the area.” The restaurant has 28 covers, plus a private dining room, and on the menu you can expect dishes such as duck liver parfait, lamb rump with ratatouille, artichoke en croute and chocolate moelleux. “The food is quite classic, but we want the atmosphere to be modern,” adds Holly. “We like to have the lights a bit dimmer, the music turned up; a grown-up atmosphere and a great place to go for a date night or evening out with friends!”
