BEST PORTABLE FLASH This category is for flash units that are too big to fit on the camera hotshoe, but still battery-powered, and perfectly at home either on location or in the studio. However, the latest models – usually with the appropriate wireless trigger – have the sophistication and feature set you would expect to see on speedlights of the highest calibre.
BEST MEMORY CARD We all expect memory cards to be reliable – and they usually are – but now the real need is for speed, with high-megapixel cameras and 4K video recording. SD (and microSD) is still the most common card, but CFexpress is a format gaining traction, with its speedy performance and rugged body form – their real drawback is the steep cost.
