T he biggest problem was making enough to keep up with demand. At not much more than a grand, it really shook up the market at a price point and form factor nobody else comes close to matching. The cameras were sold out for months. There were obviously lots of people with deep enough pockets to afford the camera, and who were willing to overlook that you really would have to have huge pockets to actually fit the thing inside. It might be called the Pocket Cinema Camera, but it’s bigger than the average pocket, for sure. It also had issues that some found hard to accept. Like the poor contrast-detect autofocus, Blackmagic had with the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K when it came out last year
Compared to some of the new top- line mirrorless cameras out now, all those factors make the BMPCC4K look a tad underwhelming. But, it shoots full-blown Raw to internal memory cards, and is definitely not just a filmmaker-
windowed 120fps footage and screen that is just fixed. Oh, and that relatively small Micro Four Thirds sensor, of course. There are also no auto exposure modes at all, no image stabilisation, no viewfinder and no waveformmonitoring.
