TOM’S CAKES OPENS IN ELY A delightful snippet of news for Ely dwellers, local favourite Tom’s Cakes has just opened its third bricks-and-mortar cafe on the city’s high street. Located opposite Ely Cathedral, the new cafe boasts an instantly recognisable blue and gold exterior, and houses a bright, spacious dining area in which you can find the dazzling array of baked deliciousness synonymous with Tom’s Cakes. Make sure to pop in and sample some for yourself the next time you’re in Ely!

3 THINGS TO EAT AND DRINK IN CAMBRIDGE THIS MONTH QUICK BITES

1. SOUP FROM CAFE FOY Warm your cockles with the best soup in Cambridge at Café Foy. The menu changes regularly so there’s always something new to try (recent flavours include pea and ham, and red lentil and tomato). We recommend half a toastie on the side: the Foy, with cheese and bechamel, is epic.

2. HOT CHOCOLATE FROM JACK’S GELATO

3. PASTRIES FROM ECLIPSE BAKERY Mill Road’s hottest new opening, it’s not uncommon to see huge queues outside this bakery. The pastries are truly next level, with particular favourites including the Snickers- inspired number, but the brioche babka and cinnamon buns are also a treat.

Next time you’re in town and need a sugar hit or to warm up frosty hands, head to Jack’s Gelato, which has shops on All Saint’s Passage and Bene’t Street. Rich and creamy, it’s made with top-quality chocolate and can be adorned with homemade marshmallow.
