Derby City PC is launching aMobile Device Photographic Section in itsmonthly PDI competitions. “I amdelighted we havemade such a progressivemove,”says Derby City chairman Ashley Franklin.“It shows how open-minded we are as a camera club. There aremany photographers who aren’t members of a camera club yet are producing outstanding and inspiring images with their phones and tablets. We are giving these like- minded people an opportunity to show us what they can achieve. I also feel this is a chance for our members to embrace and learn how to enhance their photographic skills using their own devices.” As a result of this innovation, professional photographer MalcolmSales will be giving his acclaimed presentation on smartphone photography on 10 February. If you are a keen local phone photographer, Derby City PCmight be worth a visit. (Visitor fee is £4.) Bracknell CC Bracknell CC ended the first half of the season with its annual Clive Harrison Trophy competition. This trophy is for a panel of between three and eight print images sharing a common theme, telling a story or complementing each other in some way when viewed together. The trophy is named after Club member Clive Harrison, who died in 2000. Clive was a Fellow of the RPS, a member of the London Salon and the Arena Group. This year, the trophy was won by Caroline Colegate ARPS for her panel entitled, ‘The humble piece of paper’. Her entry included a statement of intent that described the panel as follows: “The humble piece of paper can be laid flat, twisted or curved to form simple, elegant, abstract shapes”.
