A first forDaventry PS Daventry PS won the annual Badby Challenge Cup for the first time in the competition’s 27-year history. After a very closely fought and exciting contest that went to a tie-break between two of the groups competing – Daventry and Banbury – Daventry scored just one more point to win. The competition, involving nine local amateur photographic groups in 2019, was hosted by Daventry PS and was independently judged by Malcolm Sales. Daventry PS meets every Tuesday at 7.30pm, throughout the year, at Mayfield Park Sports Club, Daventry. daventryphotographicsociety.co.uk

Thanet CC’s chairman, Laura Drury, has gained a distinction to become a Licentiate of the RPS. After deciding to apply, Laura spent many months preparing her images, trying to decide which ones to use and which would work well in a balanced panel. Laura wanted to stay true to her style so included composite work and post-processed images. Great work and well done to Laura. Thanet’s youngest member, 15-year-old Dylan Watling, has also been impressing the club with his work, and recently showed some examples. His image, above, is called ESP. The club meets Mondays at 7.30pm, Ramsgate Football Club, Kent CT11 0AN. isleofthanetphotographicsociety.co.uk

Potters Bar and District PS Potters Bar and District PS has announced its award winners for 2019. Winner of Print of the Year (advanced class) was Fiona Adamson. She said, “My picture of Bled Island was taken in Slovenia and it was a perfect frosty morning. I had been at the lakeside from 5.30am and this was almost the last photo taken as the sun popped up over the mountains, lighting up the isle.” Don Hart, who won Print of the Year (general class), said, “I had the opportunity to work on a monochrome set with model Nicole Marchesani, and a simple set-up of a single soft light with carefully positioned reflector complimented Nicole’s natural beauty.” Go to the website to see the full list of winners. The Society meets at the Wyllyotts Centre, Potters Bar, on most Mondays from 7.30pm. pottersbarphotosoc.org.uk

A fun time and getting to know each other better are the objectives of Windsor PS’s annual portrait challenge. This popular event in the club’s busy schedule tasks groups of three members to take portraits that capture each other’s personalities. Some shoots were casual and others were meticulously planned, while some photographers used post- processing skills to enhance the images. Windsor PS meets on Monday evenings at 8pm at the Old Court Artspace, St Leonard’s Road, Windsor SL4 3BL. windsor-photographic-society.co.uk
