do an outstanding job can find themselves at a loss when device A refuses to talk to device (or software) B. The adoption of open IP standards like SMPTE ST 2110 and AES67/RAVENNA helps get some meaningful communication and interoperability going. When this fails to materialise, the most convenient excuse is that other vendors have been sloppy with their implementation. At present, there is no real-world oversight committee that monitors the extent to which a standard is implemented by the various contenders.
