It doesn’t take very long for filmmakers to realise that audio is critical in the success of any project. This category is for work where the soundtrack, sound design or sound recording is well-executed and significantly enhances the impact. You could be a dedicated recordist or just have some incredible audio on a film for which you were in charge. Perhaps you created a totally immersive soundscape as a sound designer, or solved a technical problem to record audio in truly testing conditions. We want to hear from you and listen to your work!

VISUAL EFFECTS IDENTIFYING THE MASTERS OF TECHNOLOGY

There are changes afoot in filmmaking, as visual effects move from practical and green screen to the full suite of virtual production using LED panels and more computer trickery. This category is open to anything from traditional methods to clever solutions in-camera or on-set. Last year’s victorious entry from Theo Dudley and Kathryn Ferentchak took a modern route, being the first shoot at Cinepacks’ LED studio in Hollywood. It was a music video for the song White Wine by JWalk, shot in front of Cinepacks’ LED wall and also a real room set built on site. But none of this tech got in the way of the story, managing to augment it. So we’d love to see and recognise the best, most creative effects used in your work.
