Unique and innovative products improve the life of the working filmmaker and 2020 has seenmany exciting products launched. It’s only right that they should be celebrated, so these awards are all about innovation and launches that have made a splash. The launch of new cameras shows no sign of slowing and there have been some incredibly capable new launches. Some offer higher spec than ever, others take high spec and pack it into smaller or more affordable packages. Three of the cameras in our Launch of the Year category are full-frame mirrorless models from the big guns of Sony, Canon and Panasonic. And we’ve also seen some awesome new cinema cameras such as the Canon EOS C300Mark III and EOS C70, Red Komodo and Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro 12K. And in terms of innovation, the Canon EOS R5 and Sony A7C, too. PolarPro has made the ND filter sexy again with the new Peter McKinnonMist Edition filter, while Rode set a new standard for mics with the Videomic NTG.

And in a year when live streaming really took off, the Blackmagic Design AtemMini Pro switcher and JVC H.265 streaming adapter made it easy to go live. So, there is plenty of choice.
