FOOD & DR INK

A MONTHLY ROUND-UP OF GASTRO GOINGS-ON AROUND CAMBRIDGESHIRE

The Burleigh Arms on Newmarket Road has recently been revamped, offering a brand new brunch menu to go with its freshly decorated interior. The pub reopened in February and looks set to become a mealtime magnet for locals, with the beer garden in particular proving to be a real attraction. Owner Steve Murphy is well known in the area, having previously owned The Old Spring for 15 years, but he is now focusing his attention solely on the Burleigh Arms. “We offer a range of real ales, craft lagers and an extensive range of gins,” says Steve, “along with excellent food prepared by our head chef Nuk Srassmit and his team. We hope you like what you see and look forward to welcoming you soon.” Jenny Lindop from Jenny Wren Designs (jennywrendesign.co.uk) is the person behind The Burleigh Arms’ new look, which sees botanical and ornithological prints adorning the dark, atmospheric walls of the pub’s cosy interior. The subtle lighting is provided mainly by an elegant central chandelier, adding to the classic Victorian feel of the space. Quirky interior features – fabrics, artefacts and pictures – set the scene to make drinking or dining here a fun, enjoyable experience.
