What’s the company’s origin story? United Robots was set up in response to identified demand from Swedish local media businesses for access to volumes of automated content for their news sites. The company built a sophisticated NLG-based platform for writing texts based on structured data and delivering these directly to publishers’ CMS, sites and apps. The first robot we built wrote texts based on match
In 2020, United Robots achieved third place in the INMA Global Media Awards for the Q&A function. United Robots is constantly expanding the capability of the robots and, today, articles are based on multiple data sources and advanced data analysis that identifies top story angles and constructs the texts. With our Content-as-a-Service
model, and focus on editorial quality and consistency, we have achieved the market leading position for automated content within the media industry (most content services that fall in the Tools-as-a- Service category, with a self-service methodology). automation players offer

weather, the stock market and more.
What’s the company working on at the moment? United Robots has provided regularly updated automated content (texts, images, maps, graphics and more) to some 100 news sites across Europe and North America. The company acts as an extension to newsrooms, with robot-written content published alongside reporter-written journalism. The company has developed unique functions, like the Sports Q&A, where the robot automatically sends post- match questions to team coaches, and then inserts the comments into the published robot-written article.
What’s the next step? Having grown for its first five years and achieving profitability each year, without bringing on board external investors, United Robots is scaling up. The company wants to expand its product and service offering beyond the media industry, to industries like betting and e-commerce. What does the company need? We need the bandwidth to innovate further, as we continue to develop delivery capacity – and the organisation to support these activities. In a nutshell, more money.
