Leica claims that its Leitzphone, manufactured by Chinese tech company Xiaomi, is the ultimate smartphone for content creators. The £1700 device promises to provide an authentic photographic experience to smartphone shooters – although not in the US, where its China connection bars it from sale. Leitzphone’s advanced triple- camera system is built around Leica’s Vario-APO-Summilux 14- 100mm f ∕ 1.67-2.9 ASPH lens. The phone’s main camera features a one-inch sensor, with its dynamic range boosted through pixel-level management of highlight detail. A 200-megapixel periscope telephoto module extends reach, offering optical zoom from 75mm to 100mm alongside optical image stabilisation and autofocus. Leitzphone’s release follows the appointment of Leica’s new boss, Andreas Voll. He is leading Leica’s programme to develop a range of its own sensors for all future cameras. leica.com Leica classy new phone?

Rode’s smarter studio system Streamline your production processes with adaptable hardware and intelligent software
R ode continues to push beyond microphones as it introduces products to streamline workflow from capture to post-production. The standout hardware is the LPA1 low-profile studio arm, which sits below the frame line to keep microphones out of the shot. It offers precise positioning, a horizontal reach of up to 75cm∕29.5in, 360° rotation, a 2kg∕4.4lb payload and integrated cable management. The DS3 desktop studio arm is a flexible alternative for compact workspaces. Rather than clamping to a desk, it uses a weighted base for stability, making it ideal for temporary set-ups. The ball head enables accurate positioning for microphones, cameras, lights and smartphones, and its metal construction and integrated cable routing maintain a premium, tidy finish. It supports payloads of up to 1.5kg∕3.3lb. For a more professional on-screen presence, Rode’s Podmic Flag allows you to customise your Podmic with a logo of your choice. The price is yet to be set.
The Rodecaster Studio desktop application completes the ecosystem. The software brings AI functionality to the editing process in transcript- based workflows, allowing users to adjust recorded speech by editing the transcript itself. Among its range of features are automatic speaker identification and word-level timing. Its advanced tools can remove filler words, tighten the pacing and alter speech while preserving the natural tone of the speaker. It supports cloud workflows with Rodecaster devices. rode.com Rode to success With a slimline studio arm and flag for your microphone, these bits of kit smarten up the on-screen look of your set
