This year’s winner is 20-year-old Ellie Mawby, a self-taught filmmaker who chose to pursue a career behind the camera after leaving school. Specialising in action sports, Mawby has built an impressive reputation in the demanding and often male-dominated world of off-road motorcycle racing. Her work now sees her creating both short- and long-form content for leading race teams both in the UK and internationally, as well as for organisers of the British championship series. Capturing high-speed action requires quick reactions, technical skill and an instinct for storytelling, and Mawby displays all three.
