CAMBRIDGE SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL
Expect fine-tuned performances at the Cambridge Summer Music Festival, with many open-air concerts. The festival began in 1980, when organist John Wells realised most college chapels, with their beautiful acoustics, sat unused all summer. His programme of organ recitals steadily grew to include choirs and orchestras, and is now one of the city’s cultural cornerstones. 15-31 JULY

THE RISING STAR
Boasting a 100-strong roster of musicians this year – including Black Midi, Ezra Collective, Róisín Murphy, Knucks and Black Star – We Out Here is sure to go off with a bang. Presented by founder Gilles Peterson, this high- energy hoedown champions genre- crossing artists and emerging talent above all. Along with its stellar line-up, expect the best DJs on offer from the UK and beyond. WE OUT HERE 10-14 AUGUST
