Broncolor Siros 400 S

Elinchrom ELC 500

With settings controlled via the Broncontrol app thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity, the Siros 400S is as sleek to operate as it is to look at. Providing a 400WS output, with 0.1EV control across its 9EV power range, it’s an extremely capable device that provides support for flash

durations down to a superb 1/8500sec. It also boasts HSS shooting. A compatible radio trigger enables wireless triggering, and there’s a 300W modelling light, too. A pleasing selection of modifiers are available that give light shaping a professional look.

With a power range that stretches from 7Ws to a massive 522Ws, including options for HSS up to 1/8000sec and stroboscopic flash, the ELC 500 offers sublime control. A fast 1.2sec recycle speed at full power, as well as an effective cooling system, means the head takes hard usage firmly in its stride. It includes an LED light with an output of 3000 lumens, and the ELC 500’s Elinchrom Skyport system provides wireless triggering at range. Chuck in a mount that provides access to one of the best ranges of lighting modifiers around, and you have a very competitive flash head for its price.

Manfrotto Lumimuse 8

Fitted with eight bright LEDs, this little device is the perfect kick light for stills or video work. And, at just 9cm across and weighing 175g, it fits into just about any compartment on a bag. Providing 550 lux that can be dimmed across four steps, it has a native colour temperature of 5600K (daylight), with 92CRI colour accuracy. The light can also be adjusted for use in tungsten conditions, thanks to the inclusion of a filter holder and snap-in filters. About 60 minutes of continuous use is possible before the unit’s rechargeable battery runs flat. Thanks to a 6.4mm thread, accessories can be attached to the Lumimuse 8, such as handles, tripods or the included ball head that allows it to sit on the hot shoe.

This pocket-sized, bi-colour LED light attaches to a camera, GoPro or stand, using the included mounts. It provides 1200 lumens of dimmable and flicker-free light, rendering it suitable for use in video or close-up stills. With excellent colour accuracy, it can be adjusted between 3000-6000K, making it suitable for use in daylight and tungsten-lit environments. Fully waterproof down to 90ft, and built like

a tank despite being so compact, it excels in positions inaccessible to many other lighting options. The rechargeable battery is good for 45 minutes at its maximum output, or more than ten hours at a lower output. A smart device app is used to control settings, thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, or there are several simple buttons on the model’s side. A dome diffuser is included in the box.

Broncolor LED F160

Producing a hefty 12,000 lumens of light, with an excellent 97CRI colour accuracy and variable colour temperatures of 2800-6800K, the F160 LED head is highly proficient as a key light for video or stills. Flicker-free, it can be controlled over a 5EV range in 0.1EV stop increments and shaped with a multitude of modifiers. This mirrors the capability of Broncolor’s flash heads due to their shared mount system. It also benefits from wireless connectivity, with control driven via the Broncontrol app for smart devices, or via DMX and RDM, which is sure to please lighting professionals. An optional lithium-ion battery is available for on-location shoots.
