SAVOUR & SIP

A monthly round-up of delicious happenings around Cambridgeshire

FRESH OPENING

The Little Rose Following an extensive refurbishment, Loch Fyne on Trumpington Street has reopened as The Little Rose, a cosy retro-styled pub. The exterior has been remodelled with a bold new entrance and fairy-lit courtyard area, while inside there is a vibe of vintage glamour, with moss-green metro tiles and eye-catching orange seats. The pub will continue Loch Fyne’s great reputation for seafood, offering signature dishes such as smoked mackerel arancini and Colchester rock oysters, while classic roast dinners will take centre stage each Sunday.

POPEYES APPEARS WINNER WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER! Following a string of UK openings, American fried chicken restaurant Popeyes has now officially arrived in Cambridge. The chain celebrated its Market Hill restaurant launch last month by giving away free chicken sandwiches and merch, accompanied by tunes from local band the Brass Funkeys. With seating for nearly 100, the eatery serves Popeyes’ famous ‘shatter crunch’ chicken, as well as Southern classics such as biscuits and gravy. “Cambridge is one of the UK’s most recognisable cities, steeped in history and culture. We’re looking forward to immersing ourselves while sharing the magic of Louisiana’s culture and traditions along the way,” says Tom Crowley, CEO at Popeyes UK. “Our Oxford opening saw record-breaking numbers of chicken sandwiches sold – let’s see if Cambridge can beat that!”
