E astwood PS, founded in 1943, is a vibrant and enthusiastic camera club based in the south side of Glasgow. The club takes part in both Scottish Photographic Federation (SPF) and Glasgow and District Photographic Union (GDPU) competitions, alongside its own varied club programme. As the club moved into the digital age, slides disappeared and competitions were organised in both digital and print formats. Emphasis was placed on promoting the club in the local community to boost membership, which was around 30 pre-digital, to a current 70 members. Projects were undertaken with and for other groups and annual print exhibitions were mounted in local libraries. Currently, the club recruits new members through its website, an open Facebook page and articles in local news publications. Apart from its own website, there’s an internal Facebook page, email and a monthly club newsletter. The growth in membership coincided with an increase in the skills of members. Members are

encouraged to enter the various club competitions as well as external competitions, such as the SPF digital and print competitions and annual portfolio. A balanced syllabus includes guest speakers, workshops, talks and demonstrations by members, and competitions both internal and external. The club has an annual, friendly international competition with a club in Victoria, Canada, and there are usually a few photography outings during the year. A couple of informal social evenings are also popular inclusions. The skill level within the club ranges from complete beginners to extremely talented photographers who have won awards at national and international levels. Currently, there are five members who have tested their individual skills to gain awards of merit such as CPAGB, photographers are happy to share their knowledge and expertise with novice and new members on a one- to-one mentoring basis. Undoubtedly, the club’s top achievement in recent years was MPAGB, LRPS, ARPS, AFIAP and EFIAP. The club’s leading
