A school’s online presence should also provide families with a list of further questions to ask when visiting, as well as a good idea of which parts of the school would be particularly worth inspection. Keen musicians might want to find out not just how many fabulous performance spaces there are, but the number and quality of practice rooms. If the open areas are spacious, lush and green, but look distinctly underpopulated
online, visiting can help you see how many of the numerous acres pupils are actually able to access – or whether most of it is out of bounds. As canny parents are starting to discover, focused online digging can be a valuable primer. Look beyond the standard information and polished presentations that are pretty much the norm for school websites these days. Even if you’re not yet sure whether your child might flourish there, you’ll have a clear sense of how to plan your trip. In-person visits are invaluable sources of information, so you can get all you need to decide if it’s the right school for your child.
