St Mary’s School CAMBR IDGE

t St Mary’s, our core aim is to inspire girls to become great women, equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their future ambitions. Three key elements of our approach enable us to do this. These are: an all-girls’ learning environment, a core set of values and ethos as a Mary Ward School, Cambridgeshire. And, as a 2021 finalist in the Independent Girls’ School of the Year Awards, we believe we offer something quite special. We have a long history of empowering girls to fulfil their potential. You’ll find a sense of ‘Yes She Can’ is part of our DNA; St Mary’s girls place no limit on what they can achieve. and breadth of opportunities to excel. St Mary’s is the only all-girls’ school in Our all-girls’ environment is carefully tailored to provide everything girls need to thrive academically and socially. The impact of this approach becomes very evident in our Senior School, as St Mary’s girls buck the trend in terms of gender stereotypes. For example, 43% of our students opted to study A-level mathematics in 2019, compared to just 8.1% of girls nationally. The all-girls advantage is much broader than subject choices alone. It’s about the learning styles we adopt in the classroom, our emphasis on leadership skills and opportunities to engage. The values we hold as a Mary Ward School form the second key element of our education. Our Christian ethos sits at the heart of the community. Values such as respect, compassion and justice define a place in which every girl feels happy, nurtured and secure. This shapes how we treat one another and work in partnership with parents, as we all navigate the occasionally choppy waters of teenage life! Our ethos is deeply connected to the importance we place on pastoral care. It is our belief that if girls are happy in school, they will accomplish their best academically.
