MONITORING THE CLOUD From providing workflow automation, media processing and quality monitoring to test and measurement solutions for the production and distribution of video, Telestream’s new cloud-based monitor is a welcome addition to its range of products. The new OptiQ Monitor enables real-time deployment of live ABR-quality monitoring at scale in over 70 global geographic regions and is designed to provide visibility of live OTT channels delivered through CDN partners. “We introduced OptiQ Monitor service to the international broadcast industry during the 2019 IBC Show in Amsterdam TELESTREAM telestream.net

demand for a monitoring infrastructure that is currently missing from large-scale live streaming channels. “OptiQ is a cloud service that radically changes the approach for on-demand monitoring and analytics, delivering real- time performance and quality insights of OTT channel quality,” Haren continued. “For the first time, customers can spin up a multi-cloud hosted service in an automated and orchestrated fashion.” The OptiQ also features a REST API for automation and integration, unlocking on-demand access to network performance, as well as analysis data that can be combined with other performance metrics.

FORESIGHT IS 2020 Qligent has announced Foresight, a cloud- based service that uses AI and data mining to mitigate content distribution issues. Aimed at broadcasters, MVPDs and OTT service providers, Foresight aims to provide real-time data analytics based on system performance and user behaviour. Qligent Foresight aggregates data points from end user equipment – including set- top boxes, smart TVs, and iOS and Android devices – as well as CDN logs, stream monitoring data, CRMs, support ticketing systems, network monitoring systems and other hardware monitoring systems. Using scaleable cloud processing, its integrated AI provides automated data collection, and deep learning technology mines data from many layers of data. Employing networked and virtual probes, Foresight creates a data mining environment that is not compromised by variables like operator error, viewer disinterest or user hardware malfunction, and tries to provide a toolset that can predict conditions negatively impacting audience engagement. Findings are presented on Qligent’s intuitive and flexible dashboard, accessible from a computer or mobile device.

SYNCHRONISING SOLUTIONS There have been countless cringe-worthy lip sync fails throughout history that have been pretty painful to watch. The one benefit of this issue is the gap in the market it creates for solutions to be provided. One of the more recent of these comes from Interra Systems, a global provider of solutions that streamline the classification, quality control process and monitoring of media content across the creation and distribution chains. New for this year, Interra announced the release of the Baton LipSync, an automated tool for lip sync detection and verification. The tool leverages machine learning technology and deep neural

networks to automatically detect audio and video sync errors. “With our Baton LipSync product, we’re extending our video quality control expertise to help address the difficult problem of audio-video sync using advanced image processing and machine learning technologies,” said Anupama Anantharaman, the vice-president of product management. “Comprehensive reporting will go a long way in assuring audio-video sync accuracy and helping our customers to deliver a more satisfying viewing experience.” Interra has been holding an ongoing series of webinars – more information is available on the website.
