LEADER ENHANCEMENTS Leader Electronics Corporation, known for designing and manufacturing test and measurement instruments, has announced the introduction of a new enhanced IP measurement for the LV5600 waveform monitor and its LV7600 equivalent rasteriser. Leader has also announced that an enhanced measurement of SDI is being introduced for all five models in the ZEN series. The SDI measurement function specified in 12G/6G/HD-SDI now provides two new extra tools. First of these is a BT.709-compatible vectorscope scale. UDHTV (ARIB- STD B66) and HLG colour bars (ARIB STD-B67) contain BT.2020 and BT.709 video content production. Second of these two new features is enhanced support for EIA- 708/608 close-caption data in 4K, with support for both 3G-SDI quad-link and 12G-SDI. This is also available as a freely downloadable upgrade.

Center performing arts series, and the Times Square Ball Drop on New Year’s Eve. The unit comes loaded with the new LDX 100 IP camera platform and a simplified IP workflow using the GV Orbit dynamic system orchestrator, which allows operators to easily configure and change systems on the fly. The IP workflow is supported by an IP fabric built with Nexus 9000 Series Switches from Cisco Systems. GV STRATUS ONE PRO Grass Valley is also launching the GV Stratus One Pro, an all-in-one production suite that allows content creators to be more efficient with a small-footprint solution. The new platform is one of two new additions to the GV Stratus One product family, alongside the new GV Stratus Express. The GV Stratus One allows collaborative working across every aspect of the media workflow. Production teams can now harness more storage, processing power and rendering abilities. FACILITATE SHARED STORAGE Maintaining secure remote storage systems and stable shared servers has never been more crucial. Introducing version 8 of Facilis Hub Shared Storage System and version 3.5 of FastTracker MAM, with proxy encoding to the cloud for remote workflows. Version 8 delivers full throughput to all workstations during normal operation, but prioritises workstations to maintain greater throughput when the server enters a high-load condition. This disables the need for remote workers to manually maintain the system’s throughputs. “This release represents over two years of development to increase the resiliency, flexibility and bandwidth management capabilities of the product,” said Shane Rodbourn, COO. Version 8 also includes SSD and HDD tiering, delivering improved speed for projects that require a performance of SSD-level. The FastTracker can now flush and prefetch files and folders from cloud and LT0 locations, while reporting the status of archived media. Proxy encoding of indexed assets to the cloud allows delivery of compressed media to editors working remotely.

Also new is plug-in module SER31 for the LV5600 and LV7600, providing enhanced measurement of 12G/6G/3G/ HD-SDI. This allows operators to check chroma levels beyond the BT.709 or DCI-P3 gamut. The new feature simplifies the task of identifying the reproduction errors that can occur when transmitting video content produced in BT.709, DCI-P3 or BT.2020 wide colour gamut, or when converting content from BT.2020 to narrow colour gamut. With the colorimetry zone features, chroma signals exceeding the legal gamut are made immediately apparent using a false-colour substitute.

MOVING TO THE CLOUD For live production, Grass Valley has

Formally introduced this month at the online event, GV LIVE Presents – Innovate 2020, the solution represents a big step in the right direction in terms of overcoming media companies’ reticence to move their workflows into the cloud. Powered by its core technology platform, GV AMPP, the GV Media Universe provides media companies with access to the cloud and opens the door to pay-as-you-go models. “I believe that introductions like our fully IP-connected live production suite and the debut of the GV Universe concept can only be accomplished by a company like Grass Valley, with our tradition of excellence and large pool of talented technologists,” said Grass Valley president, Tim Shoulders. ALL MOBILE VIDEO’S NEW TRUCK All Mobile Video (AMV) has chosen Grass Valley for its latest outside broadcast truck, Eclipse. The unit will support a range of live productions, including major award and red carpet events, the Live from Lincoln

launched the LDX 100 camera platform, a speedy UHD camera. This launch is topically of note, as it is designed specifically for IP-connected workflows, particularly remote production, as it connects directly into the contribution network, eliminating the need for an external control unit. Complementing this new camera platform is the company’s latest production switcher engine, the K-Frame XP. With a raster processing at 2160p, the K-Frame XP eases the complexity of 4K UHD workflows by removing the processing of power barriers, which in the past have compromised I/O count and the look on-air. Grass Valley also gave a glimpse into the future with its first public reveal of the GV Media Universe. This is a concept designed around an ecosystem of cloud-based tools and services interconnected with existing solutions, partner offerings and a community of marketplaces.
