new vision for an historic school. Stoke College is undergoing a transformation. It has new owners, a new principal and is investing in the

school’s facilities. These changes seek to move Stoke into an era of great prosperity and success. Stoke College nurtures a wonderfully comprehensive range of students. It helps students achieve superb results and access top universities, as the A-level results from this summer testify. The school takes pride in seeing a student exceed their (and sometimes others’) expectations and delights in that light-bulb moment when a child who has struggled, but who has been given support, suddenly grasps a difficult concept. Nowhere was this more evident than during the coronavirus lockdown. Stoke College was one of the first schools in the UK to have an online school up and running. The school believes that developing a deep understanding of a child’s individual needs is the best way to provide a holistic education. The students are encouraged to forge friendships across the year groups, preparing them for life beyond the school setting. With such nurturing pastoral care in place, students are able to thrive in their academic studies. Achievement targets are set for each child so that their successes can be celebrated, whether that means securing a GCSE pass or reaching the very highest GCSE and A-level grades. The school’s approach is to gently push each student to achieve a little more than they believe they are capable of, incrementally building their confidence and helping them to reach new heights of achievement.
