There’s a busy December planned for Ely’s bustling market, with various festive specials coming up. On the 23rd, pay a visit for the Christmas market: a perfect chance to grab some last-minute pressies and edible treats. It runs from 8.30am until 3.30pm and includes food, craft and vintage stalls, as well as seasonal entertainment and gifts. There’s also a series of mini markets in the run-up to Christmas, taking place on 16, 17, 18 and 20 December, plus a vegan fair on the 15th. Showcasing plant-based food, giftware traders and lots of festive fun, it takes place alongside the regular Sunday market, from 10am to 4pm. Search Ely Markets on Facebook for more info. My Persian Kitchen is back for another mini residency at King Street’s Thirsty and Hungry on 13 and 14 December. Chef Sirous Naderi and his team grow loads of their own veg and, with recipes inspired by his grandmother and mother, he aims to take guests on a journey to Iran, complete with sweet, fragrant flavours to dine for.
