BRIEFINGS INDUSTRY
[ THE LIGHT FANTASTIC ] ARRI REVEALS OMNIBAR A RRI has revealed its first bar LED light, the Omnibar. Available in 2ft Omnibar 2 and 4ft Omnibar 4 versions, the battery-powered, IP65- rated bars are designed for flexible deployment, equally suited to being rigged into sets, taped to practicals or being used outdoors. The modular set-up allows for daisy-chaining via a single power or data hub while interchangeable optics and a range of mounting options all point to speed and adaptability on-set. With 16 or 32 pixel zones depending on size, the Omnibar leans into in-camera effects and programmable lighting, backed by ARRI’s established colour science (CRI/TLCI 98). Add wireless CRMX, onboard control and a two-hour battery runtime, and it’s a system built to move smoothly with modern production workflows.
[ THE COOKE LOOK ] COOKE LAUNCHES AP3 PRIMES H ere come Cooke’s new AP3 primes; a series of lightweight 1.5x anamorphics for mirrorless systems. The lenses come in 35, 50 and 85mm focal lengths, all with a T-stop range of T2.4-16, and 1.5x squeeze factor. Cooke is clearly carrying its established aesthetic into a more flexible form factor, with an emphasis on controlled, organic flare rather than aggressive streaking; gentle fall-off and a softer, more gradual separation between focus planes. Bokeh is described as painterly but restrained, keeping attention on the subject rather than the artefact. At around 1.2-1.4kg, they are light enough for gimbal and drone use, with tight close focus and user- swappable mounts.
