The 19model fits camera rigs up to 48.3cm/19in long and 19cm/7.5in tall. It is built with an aluminium-reinforced collapsible lid, the material is ballistic nylon, and there are YKK zips, welded metal hardware, nylon seatbelt webbing and high-density foam for protection. The case also comes with a wide handle, which allows you to attach it to a trolley or rolling luggage, perfect for travelling. It also comes with a rain cover in case of a downpour. The oldmaxim that you get what you pay for is not the case with the winner in our Editing Software category: Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve. That’s because the basic version is free, and offers the vast majority of functionality that professional filmmakers need. Resolve is fast becoming the go-to software for colour correction and grading, and is ideal for changing Raw files into edit-ready rushes. Not only that, it is a powerful NLE in its own right, with features that get improved on a regular basis. Talk about a real bargain!

Lacie’s Rugged SSD drives are familiar sights on shoots all over the world, instantly visible by the trademark orange rubberised covers. However, the Rugged SSD Pro is the professional version, which comes in black and is ideal for video up to 8K. It canmanage transfer speeds of up to 2800MB/s when used with a Thunderbolt 3 computer, too. That’s incredibly fast and allows you to download files or edit with no slowing down at all. The included cable also works with USB-C computers, as this is the same fit as Thunderbolt, but you do lose the impressive data-transfer speed this way. At least it works with USB-C computers, as some Thunderbolt 3 SSDs don’t. As many cameras move away fromSD cards into faster media, it’s no surprise that the winner of the Memory Card category is the Sandisk 128GB Extreme Pro CFast 2.0. Shooting in 4K or high speedmeans you need a quick and large-capacity card to keep up. The Sandisk 128GB Extreme Pro CFast 2.0 is rugged and comes with free rescue software in case of data loss. With a speed of up to 525MB/s, it’s far faster than an equivalent SD card. When it comes to safety, you need a bag that offers protection, but not at the expense of portability, and in the category for Rollers/

Hardcases, the legendary Peli brand wins with the 1607 Air Case, which is an extremely deep case that just swallows up larger cameras. Like all Peli cases, it is made fromhigh-impact plastic resin, meaning it can withstand extreme temperatures, with rounded corners to fend off impacts, an O-ring seal to keep the nasties out and tough latches, and it’s also fitted with stainless-steel hinge pins. Peli’s Air range is much lighter than same-sized standard Peli cases, often up to 40% less. This difference in weight makes them far easier to transport. The 1607 comes with top-quality wheels and an extendable handle, so it’s less of a strain tomove it around. Inside is Peli’s new lightweight Padded Dividers system– a dual-layered set-up that can be configured to fit in your kit. The case is also available with Pick N Pluck foam, so you can customise shapes. In the category for Backpacks/ Holdalls, the winner is the Think Tank VideoWorkhorse 19. It is a traditionally shaped camcorder bag, so you can drop your rigged-up

ABOVE An LED Broncolor light, Sandisk CFast 2.0 card and Think Tank bag were all voted as winners
