The Queen’s Head, Newton is a traditional pub that has been in the same family for three generations. More than that, it is one of a handful of pubs featured in every edition of The Good Beer Guide since its first publication in 1974. Famous for beer straight from the barrel, home-made ‘brown’ soup and sandwiches and platters made to order, the Queen’s Head is the quintessential English pub. The original and eclectic interior features open fires, quirky artwork and a stuffed goose called Belinda, who used to roam the car park. Open daily for food and drink with weekly street food pop-ups on Wednesday nights, the pub also offers a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings on alternate weeks. Or, if you’re looking for something a little bit special, the Queen’s Head also holds monthly Saturday supper clubs with a delicious three-course menu.
