CORPORATE CATERING

STEAK & HONOUR

Front runners of Cambridge’s now- thriving street food scene, Steak & Honour has been flipping patties in its red Citroën H burger wagon since way back in 2012. Fast-forward to 2020 and it’s added two new vans to the mobile fleet, opened a bricks-and-mortar restaurant on Wheeler Street and, for its next trick, the company is launching Ox & Lox, a new concept developed specifically with the office workers of Cambridge in mind. Launching soon, this will be the brand’s lunchtime delivery service, offering smartly boxed-up bagels with fillings including cured beef, mustard and pickles. As with everything S&H does, quality is key, with the bagels made by local bakery Grain Culture, and meat from Chapel & Swan Smokehouse. “We saw a gap in the market and we wanted to collaborate with great local businesses to create a new product for Cambridge,” explains Katie Underwood from the Steak & Honour team. “With the influx of new offices

around the station, Science Park and other areas of the city, we thought it would be great to offer something more than a boring sandwich platter, particularly for those businesses without parking for the Steak & Honour van. All bagels are made fresh to order and are delivered wrapped and boxed, with the local provenance and exceptional quality that businesses have come to expect from S&H.”

JACK’S GELATO

Ice cream isn’t just a summer treat at Jack’s Gelato, it’s a way of life. Run by local chef Jack van Praag, this much-loved local firm started life as a one-man band scooping iced treats from a tricycle, attracting flocks of fans with its innovative flavours. Nowadays, Jack has a sleek and polished gelato parlour in the heart of the city on Bene’t Street, which has a perma-queue snaking out the front, but can still supply his frozen delights for special events and corporate clients. The company currently scoops for a number of businesses in the city – some monthly and some on an ad hoc basis, offering the option of arriving on the tricycle and scooping (mini scoops, singles or doubles), or for those on a tighter budget, delivering boxes of beautifully packaged single-serve pots. To make sure the flavours are well received, the company can send a list of options a week before, allowing staff to choose their favourite five to bring along on the day. And with offerings like roast banana and cinnamon, chocolate truffle cake or gin and blood orange, not to mention vegan options, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

TAWA KITCHEN

Serving up vibrant, fresh dishes from the office-dense station area, Tawa Kitchen

regularly supplies lunchtime treats for the likes of Amazon, WeWork and Spotify. The cafe offers Indian cuisine that’s a million miles away from traditional curry-house fare, with a focus on healthy, light meals such as colourful salads and roti wraps: perfect for leaving you nourished, but not sluggish, for the afternoon ahead (vegans are well catered for too). For corporate customers, Tawa offers buffets for breakfasts and lunchtimes, with popular dishes including Hyderbadi keema lamb, pan-roasted cauliflower and quinoa salad, and harissa sweet potato. Or swing by for a pre-work breakfast or afternoon drink from the chai bar.
