Fujifilm

“I use a FujifilmX-T2 and it feels just right in the hand. I use it for everything– it’s phenomenal”

been forgotten. I do like architectural and street photography, and I shoot weddings, too. I’ve always loved photography, but didn’t get into it seriously until 2011 when I got my first proper camera: a Pentax K-x DSLR with two lenses that my wife bought me. Since then I’ve a spent lot of money and ended up with a Pentax K-1. But with the K-1 being so heavy, I went for a mirrorless camera and picked Fujifilm. I use a FujifilmX-T2 and it feels just right in the hand. I use it for everything – it’s phenomenal. Before I got the X-T2, after a day’s shooting with my DSLR, I would have a painful elbow because of the weight. I don’t have that problemwith the X-T2, so no pain in my arms at the end of day. I’m a bit old-school and I love the look of the Fujifilm cameras. I really like the control layout, too, with the large dials on the top and the fact that you can lock them. At the moment I have three lenses: the XF18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LMOIS standard zoom, the XF23mm f/2 RWR

and the XF35mm f/2 RWR. I shoot a lot with the standard zoom, including in the studio for portraits, and the results are phenomenal. I shoot mostly in aperture-priority AE, using Raw and often underexposing very slightly and then lift the shadows and control the highlights in processing. I’m looking at getting the XF50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OISWR. I like the fact it is a constant aperture zoom, and I like the range so I can pick out details. I have quite big hands and have the Vertical Power Booster Grip fixed to the camera most of the time. It offers seamless working, and the grip has key body controls such as the shutter release, focus lever and AE-L button. This means I can quickly change from horizontal shooting to vertical format and back again. Of course, there is also the benefit of having much more shooting capacity. For an average day’s shoot, I have two cells loaded in the grip and use the boost mode for even better performance. And the ability to plug in the grip and charge the two batteries
