SPRIG CABLE TIDIES £18/$18 getsprig.co

Some ideas are so ludicrously simple, you wonder why it hasn’t been done before. That’s the case with these Sprig cable tidies – plastic clips to keep your cables from flapping about. At one end is a flexible, semi-threaded section that you push into a standard 1/4in-20 threaded hole – as found on lots of camera rigs and plates. This leaves a soft hoop of plastic with a split in it, so you can push in wayward cables. It’s simplicity itself, and does a great job of holding wires without firmly clamping them. At £18/$18 for a pack of six, they are not exactly cheap, but will hardly break the bank. They come in eight colours, from sober black, to pink or orange – and there’s a glow-in-the-dark option, too. So you don’t lose them, a Sprig Holder can store six and fastens to a keyring. For another £12/$12, it makes sense. If you want a Sprig to use in a bigger 3/8in-16 socket, then £18.38/$18 gets you a pack of three. These larger clips take cables up to 13.5mm. What are you waiting for, just order some! RATING: 10/10 Simple, but effective – you’ll never want to live without! Pros: A simple solution to an old problem Cons: Not cheap for a little bit of bendy plastic PROMOVIEMAKER

and simple; there are waveforms, false colour, vectorscopes, focus peaking, instant zoom and the Atomos HDR feature, as well as viewing LUTs. The unit feels well-built. There is an audio input, 3.5mmheadphone jack, remote jack – and full-size HDMI input and output sockets. The top and bottomof the units have the Arri two-pin 3/8in accessory mounts, so you can use the right connector to stop the unit twisting. The 1920x1080 screen shows detailed images, and is night-and-day better than any standard screen. The rear of the unit has a slot for a single Sony NP-F battery, and you can also power the unit from the mains via an included adapter. There are lots of different high- quality codecs, such as Apple ProRes. The Ninja also records audio, but doesn’t have mini XLR inputs. You can record audio via the HDMI input from the camera or through the 3.5mm input jack. The audio can be monitored via the headphone jack, too. The Pro Kit comes with a hard case, neoprene sleeve, AtomX SDI module, battery eliminator, D-Tap cable, sunhood and empty drive caddy – all for £1679/$1699. Or you can buy the bare Ninja V+ for £1500/$1499. However, right now, for most users it doesn’t offer muchmore than the ‘old’ Ninja V, which is currently a real bargain at £630/$599. If you definitely won’t be needing 8K or 4K/120p in the future, then this is a great buy. But as more cameras are added to the Ninja V+ compatibility list, as happened with ProRes Raw functionality, then the Atomos Ninja V+ can future-proof your equipment. PROMOVIEMAKER RATING: 9/10 The most popular five-inchmonitor just got even better Pros: Now 120p in both 4K and 8K recording Cons: Not yet for all cameras, pricey
