Opening on 23 October and running until 3 May next year, a major new exhibition at the Fitzwilliam Museum is set to re-examine the work of visionary creative William Morris and his circle, which included Edward Burne-Jones, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Elizabeth Siddal. Through a wide selection of well-known and rarely seen paintings (such as Joan of Arc by Rossetti, oil on panel, 1882, pictured), designs and art objects drawn from the Fitzwilliam collection and on loan, A Call to Art: William Morris and the Pre-Raphaelites will explore the way in which these artists and designers looked backward in time to reimagine a new future – and how, in our own digital age, their ideals, challenges and contradictions feel newly relevant. fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk Pre-Raphaelite perspectives
