EIZO unveils 30.5-inch HDR- ready DCI 4K monitor What does a post-production monitor need in 2025? EIZO’s ColorEdge CG3100X offers one possible answer V isual technology company EIZO has just announced the launch of the ColorEdge CG3100X (availability TBC), a

30.5-inch DCI 4K monitor for editing and post-production workflows where colour accuracy and HDR precision are key. It’s the latest in the brand’s highly regarded ColorEdge line, and offers improvements aimed at professionals working in high- end finishing, colour and VFX. At the heart of the CG3100X is full HDR workflow support, including both hybrid log-gamma (HLG) and perceptual quantisation (PQ) curves. With a peak brightness of 500cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 1800:1, it displays deep shadows and highlight detail with the accuracy required for today’s broadcast, cinema and streaming deliverables. It also supports 97% of the Adobe RGB colour space and 99% of DCI-P3, giving users the wide-gamut precision needed for modern grading pipelines. EIZO’s monitors have long had a reputation for reliability in colour-critical environments, and this model continues that tradition with several pro-grade tools built in. The Pixel Inspection function, for example, allows supervisors to check the technical colour values of any pixel directly against the source input data, making it easier to spot mismatches early and avoid costly fixes later. On top of that, the CG3100X uses a built-in calibration sensor with EIZO’s ColorNavigator 7 software, so there’s no need to rely on third- party hardware to keep your display accurate over time. Connectivity has been given an upgrade, too. The inclusion of USB Type-C allows users to connect a laptop or workstation with a single cable, handling video, USB hub

access and up to 94W of power delivery. There’s also a LAN port built into the monitor for stable network access – a smart addition for post houses moving assets across shared servers. For those working with HDMI pipelines, support for Fixed Rate Link (FRL) – part of the latest HDMI spec – means uncompressed 12-bit data and high-bandwidth formats are supported without issue. The monitor is sleek, with punched metal on the rear for airflow, while a quiet 20dB internal fan keeps things cool without

With sustainability a growing focus for many studios, EIZO has made a concerted effort here to make this product eco-friendly. The monitor’s housing is made from over 85% recycled plastic, and the packaging uses moulded pulp from recycled cardboard and newspaper. These choices support the company’s wider push to reach net zero emissions by 2040 – part of a broader strategy to align with international climate goals. For post professionals working in DCI 4K, HDR and wide-gamut environments, the CG3100X is a strong option – not just for its image quality, but for the practical thinking behind its design. It’s a monitor built for the realities of high-end post, where what’s on screen has to be right every time.

adding background noise. It ships with a light-shielding hood and supports both DisplayPort and HDMI inputs for flexible integration into existing set-ups.
