wife Samantha since 2014 – they always work together. Before then, he’d spent more than 20 years in corporate sales and sales management. “We’re completely thrilled to have won Wedding POTY,” says Steve. “The standard of the other winning monthly entries was so high, with gorgeous wedding images, albeit more traditional wedding photos thanmine. To receive such accolades from [judges] Trevor and Faye Yerbury and the other judges is truly humbling. “My winning shot was taken at a wedding at The Perch, a riverside pub that sometimes featured in Inspector Morse episodes. The couple had got married at a nearby church and were having their reception in the marquee in the pub gardens, close to the river. I spotted this scene as I walked into the marquee, as the couple were greeting their guests with a receiving line, which Samantha was photographing. It’s of the bride’s grandparents and aunt, who were sitting quietly waiting for everyone to come in. I immediately loved their expressions, and took the photo frommy waist with the screen of my FujifilmX-T2 flipped out, as I didn’t want to raise the camera tomy eye and attract attention. “We shoot with Fujifilmmirrorless cameras, as we find they suit the way we work: quiet, light, unobtrusive. My two cameras are always clipped on tomy waist band with Spider BlackWidow camera holsters. I shot it with a 23mm lens at 1/125sec, at f/2 and ISO 640. I converted the Raw tomonochrome in Lightroom using my own custom settings.” • You can read Steve’s blog about this wedding at bit.ly/2rPnLmv,and find out more about Samantha and Steve’s wedding work at samandstevephotography.com
