Fresh fruit salad flavours, sweet but not sickly, this luscious dessert wine is made with super-ripe grapes from a renowned Gloucester vineyard. It would pair perfectly with an apple pie.

Lucky Chesterton, because Barbarella might just be the perfect neighbourhood cafe! Offering exquisite homemade cakes and savoury bakes, speciality coffee, pantry items like flour and eggs, and beautiful flowers (thanks to the Botanical Alchemist), it’s an in-the-know gem nestled at 39 High Street. We’d expect nothing less from owner Gemma Whiting, who’s also the creative mind behind the beloved Linton Kitchen, which has gone from strength to strength since opening in 2013. Barbarella, which launched last summer, sits at what was the site of the Blue Moon Barbers, and still bears the original 1950s barbershop pole – though now it’s painted pink and gold! Specialities include exceptional vegan bakes such as the chocolate fudge cake (featuring Belgian dark chocolate and rich avocado frosting), and banoffee muffins made with brown sugar, banana and cinnamon sponge, topped with Biscoff and vegan salted caramel. WINBIRRI VINEYARD SIGNATURE 2017 , £14 . 99 This one is bursting with rich plum and dark berry fruits; spicy, with hints of coffee and blackberries. Aged in American oak, it has a slightly toasted note as an extra dimension. 2

NYETIMBER CUVÉE CHERIE DEMI -SEC MV, £34 . 99 From world-renowned Nyetimber, this has pure lemon, tangerine and honey aromas; with the lively, sweet lemon and ripe apple offset by a crisp acidity. A gorgeous English sparkling wine.
