A TRIBUTE TO SQUIRE TICKELL There’s a decadent dinner planned at Whittlesford’s Tickell Arms on 7 October, featuring five courses and flowing champagne. The feast is a tribute to this much-loved pub’s former owner, the self-styled Squire Kim Joseph Hollick De La Taste Tickell, who was known for blasting Wagner, slurping fizz in the duck pond and taking against customers. His tenure was in the 70s/80s, but the long list of people not allowed to set foot inside the restaurant is still up on the wall – and well worth a read! Those wearing collarless garments are among the personae non gratae. An evening of eccentric fun in his honour is promised, but this time, everybody is welcome.
