FLYING THE PURPLE FLAG FOR CAMBRIDGE Cambridge is officially a Purple Flag city! It’s been granted an award to celebrate town or city nightlife that’s well-managed, safe for customers and, above all, vibrant. The night-time economy has taken a real knock during the pandemic, so it feels good to celebrate this year’s Purple Flag weekend, which takes place this month. Lockdown hasn’t stopped the Cambridge scene developing, with great new additions popping up recently. These include the Town and Gown (a pub and theatre), The Orator (a beautifully refurbished bar and brasserie at Cambridge Union) and Mash (an independent club and live music venue).
