BLACKMAGIC CINEMA CAMERA 6K GEAR

6K RAW RECRUIT

BLACKMAGIC’S SPELLBINDING CINEMA CAM

Prepare to be charmed by the first-ever full-frame camera from the Aussie firm – and add some magic to your work

B lackmagic is pretty much the last major manufacturer to make the great leap to cameras with a sensor larger than Super 35. Its new Cinema Camera 6K is based on the chunky body style of the current Pocket Cinema Camera range but now has a 24x36mm 6K sensor and built-in optical low-pass filter to cut down moiré. The DSLR-style EF mount of the current flagship 6K Pro has been dropped in favour of a native mirrorless type: the L-Mount as used in Panasonic, Sigma and Leica cameras. So, for the first time, Blackmagic fans can finally go for a full cinematic look featuring the very shallow depth-of-field associated with full-frame sensors, as well as lots of size and shape image options – including open gate 6K and true 6:5 anamorphic without further cropping. The camera boasts dual native ISO, 13 stops of dynamic range and a CFexpress card slot. It allows simultaneous Blackmagic Raw workflows. Despite the cost of sensors being cited as a reason for pricier cameras in previous years, this 6K camera costs just £2539/$2595, roughly the same as the older 6K Pro Super 35 model. If you are a committed Blackmagic fan that uses DaVinci Resolve to edit and have yearned for the full-frame look, don’t delay and order one today – you won’t be disappointed. The chances are, Blackmagic owners don’t have and H.264 proxy recording for faster editing or cloud
