It’s for work commissioned by clients – from branded content to promotional videos or anything else in between. If you shoot for clients to help them promote their services and products, this is the one to enter. It might be commercials, branded video, sales videos, adverts or a package of lots of different video-led media for a single client or campaign. Just choose your best and most stunning work. Last year’s winner Adrian Weinbrecht also scooped the overall Filmmaker of the Year crown, thanks to his stunning work for superyacht client Burgess Yachts. He helped build a campaign that engaged a younger audience around the experience of luxury travel. It’s hard to believe, but all Weinbrecht’s work was created in indoor sets – that includes the flickering water, highlighting his mastery of lighting and cinematography. “The way drama is shot is bleeding into the commercial world. We’re moving away from commercials as a short sizzle of a product like a car commercial, and much more into narrative and storytelling. People want to know the story of other people,” reveals Weinbrecht.

It’s always a unique challenge to shoot sports and action as it often involves unpredictable, fast-moving subjects. That can be people, vehicles, horses, balls, boats and more. But it’s often so much more than just showing the action; great films display the stories behind the competitors, the equipment used, the organisers and potentially lots more. The passion, joy, heartbreak and thrill of victory make for great films. This category will focus on the truly attention-grabbing footage and incredible stories told visually.
