WHAT IS IT? The ARRI ALEXA 35 Live Xtreme is a high-frame-rate camera designed for live production. Live Xtreme works in tandem with ARRI’s Live Production System LPS-1, blending ARRI’s superior image quality with cinematic in-camera effects and multicam integration. With a pre-installed High-Speed License and new High Frame Rate SDI License, the Live Xtreme can output video at up to 8x in HD and 2x in UHD – with frame rates of up to 330fps (660fps when in Sensor Overdrive mode). The camera features ARRI’s Super 35 sensor, which offers high dynamic range and impressive colour accuracy, as well as access to the ARRI Look Library. This allows users to select a base appearance or build one that’s entirely their own. Today’s broadcast environments are increasingly reliant on multicam set-ups, which means the Live Xtreme will be right at home, seamlessly fitting in with existing systems.
WHERE CAN YOU USE IT? The ALEXA 35 Live Xtreme is for any live event but shines brightest capturing concerts, sports and anything inherently dramatic. It elevates production value, making broadcasts feel more like films, and enriches the viewer experience with heightened contrast and clarity. WHY DO WE LOVE IT? The Live Xtreme’s standout feature is its ability to capture slow-motion video. It simultaneously records in slow motion and high speed, so broadcasters have access to both feeds and can pull assets for different purposes. The ALEXA 35 Live Xtreme joins the ALEXA 35 Live, the other half of ARRI’s current broadcast line-up, and it is available to order now. ALEXA 35 Live users can also upgrade their cameras – providing they were purchased in 2026 or onwards – to include Xtreme functionality by purchasing the appropriate licences, while pre-2026 cameras will require a hardware overhaul.
