BUT EVERYONE WAS FROM underrepresented backgrounds ” B eing self-employed is no easy feat, and those in the film industry know it all too well. Getting that early work experience and filling up your CV can be almost impossible, especially if you lack the connections. That’s where Resource Productions comes in.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS As a teenager, Dominique Unsworth worked in TV, primarily as a production runner. After university, she was contracted on a project at Teddington Studios, but when the shoot moved locations, “not knowing anyone in the industry meant I lost that contract, and I found myself basically unemployed,” she recounts. Based in Berkshire, Unsworth got a part-time gig at the Slough Museum and joined the Slough Young People Centre. There, she taught a filmmaking course, getting students at the youth centre and volunteers at the museum to collaborate on a video project called Active Archive. “That’s how Resource Productions began.” BRIDGING THE GAP Resource Productions is a community interest organisation that provides free training opportunities to Berkshire filmmakers of
