Zeiss is renowned for its optics and the 21-100mm lightweight zoom does not disappoint. Capturing pin- sharp images with crisp colours and contrast, this lens has a maximum aperture of T/2.9 and a generous focus ring rotation of 294°. It’s very user-friendly and can be bought in a wide range of lens mounts, including cine- style PL, Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony E and MFT. Incredibly lightweight for its class, weighing only 2kg, it’s very robust and has splash-proof housing. Although it’s the price of a car, this is an extremely powerful lens and is very trustworthy in producing industry-standard optics, while its robustness and rugged nature lends itself to serious action filmmakers. Libec’s two-stage aluminium tripod is completely robust and reliable. With a 75mm bowl it can support all kinds of heads. Although smaller and lighter, it still retains the same strength and stability as its predecessor, the RT40RB. With three leg sections, the minimum height is ten to 20 inches, while the maximum height is 60 inches. The RT30B weighs 2.6kg/ 5.7lb, a lot lighter than other tripods of its kind, making it ideal for transportation. This rugged and modular film-style digital cinema camera can shoot in Raw and ProRes in 10-bit 4:2:2. Its 4K sub-S35 format CMOS sensor has a 1.85x crop, although an EF KineEnhancer lens mount can reduce that by 0.72x when used with Canon lenses. With a wide dynamic range, the Terra features dual native ISO at 800 and 3200, meaning it performs very well in low-light conditions, with a maximum ISO of 20,480. Normally powered through a standard BP3-battery, it can
operate for up to 90 minutes; the addition of KineBack provides a V-mount for larger batteries alongside the use of WiFi. It has a five-inch screen, multifunction side-grip and is no bigger than a pro DSLR with a lens. It’s completely user friendly and customisable as a modular design, offering an SSDmemory slot, inbuilt LUTs and an internal mic. Only released to UK crowds in early 2018, this is still a work-in-progress, with Kinefinity promising many upgrades soon, such as the ability to record in compressed lossless KineRAW 12-bit. It is small and light at only 990g/ 2.19lb, and its image quality approaches that of RED’s or Alexa’s but for a fraction of the price.
