LONGTERMTESTS

A DIFFERENT TYPE OF SLIDER Andoer GT-V70 £189/$159 Time tested: 12months www.andoer.com

Not all sliders are long pieces of track. Some, like the Andoer GT-V70, use a scissor-type motion to move your camera in a straight line. So it is much smaller and more portable

keeps the camera pointed in the same direction and can be used as a traditional slider for side-to-side or push-in movements. Of course, the movements are limited to how smooth your technique is. It takes practice and it’s not the smoothest. Of course, it can’t be motor controlled, and you need a sturdy tripod to stop it overbalancing. And the adjuster screw on the supplied ball head broke very easily. But for a cheap, small bit of kit that can add movement to a shot, it’s great to keep in your bag for use with a light camera. AD PRO MOVIEMAKER RATING: 7/10 Pros: It’s small, light, very portable and affordable Cons: Limited length, needs a stable tripod

than a regular slider, which means you’re more likely to take it with you on shoots. The Andoer gives motion up to four times its folded length, so a decent 70.6cm/27.8in. It can take a payload up to 1.5kg/3.3lbs, so is ideal for mirrorless cameras or DSLRs. A small ball head is screwed onto one of the two 1/4-inch screw threads. One is labelled Panning, which pans the camera around as you move it – either towards an object or as a wide-angle sweep depending on which way it’s being moved. The other is Linear, which

WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED Tenba Cinelux Shoulder Bag 24 £240/$260 Time tested: 13months www.tenba.com

There’s a huge pocket on the outside to swallow up cables or even small booms, and the padded strap is long and comfortable with a non-slip strap. There are even some classy touches, such as leather- trimmed carry handles and anodised aluminium detailing. Fully loaded, it can be heavy but that’s due to its cavernous size. Tenba also sell rolling versions of the bag, but not in this size. It looks good, is light and well padded, and not too expensive. AD

If there’s one thing I really can’t stand it’s having to assemble my camera kit from its component parts every time I want to use it, then disassembling it to pack it all away again. Finding a bag to take a Sony FS5, fitted with the Sony 18-110mm cinema lens, a top handle and an Atomos Shogun Inferno recorder- monitor has proved a major task. That was until Tenba unveiled its roomy Cineluxe Shoulder Bag 24 which has a doctor’s bag-style opening. That means I can open one large zip, fold open the top and my fully rigged Sony just drops straight inside. All I have to do is loosen the mounting clamp for the Shogun Inferno and fold it forward. The base of the bag has a built-in pillow to cushion the lens, and there’s a strap to cinch down on the camera, too. It also comes with two padded wraps and a padded zip pouch, so you can keep all your other bits of kit in one place. And padded dividers mean you can slip in lenses, mics or just about anything else.

RIGHT The TARDIS-like interior of the Cinelux shoulder bag fits lots of gear.

PROMOVIEMAKERRATING: 9/10 Pros: Swallows up a whole cinema rig Cons: No wheeled options in this size
