AWARDS FILMMAKER OF THE YEAR

Entries are flooding in for the awards that celebrate real-world filmmaking talent, but there’s still time to get involved SKY’S THE LIMIT T he entries have already started coming in, and they tell a clear story. Modern filmmaking is not defined by red carpets or

theatrical releases. It’s defined by the work that’s being created right now – under pressure, on tight schedules, for real audiences and across every platform that matters. The Pro Moviemaker

Filmmaker of the Year (FOTY) is back for its fourth year, celebrating the filmmakers shaping today’s visual culture. It is the creators delivering

brand films, documentaries, music videos, weddings, social content and campaigns – often with limited resources, but limitless ingenuity. This award is not about chasing budgets or box office numbers. It’s about recognising craft, storytelling and problem-solving. The films entered so far range from stripped-back personal projects to slick commercial work and even a hit music video watched by seven million people, all united by strong ideas and confident execution. Video now dominates everything from global marketing to social feeds, and it’s working filmmakers who carry that load. These awards exist to spotlight their contribution and give their work the recognition it deserves.

Select the categories you’d like to enter and state your role in the production. You can enter as many categories as you wish, even with the same film. If the judges believe your entry also deserves consideration in another category – typically a technical class such as lighting, cinematography or sound – we reserve the right to include it unless you request otherwise. Finally, add a short explanation about the shoot. Context such as challenges faced, creative decisions or notable achievements all matter. If you need any assistance, email adamduckworth@bright.uk.com with Filmmaker of the Year in the subject line. Entries close 22 May 2026 . With categories covering every corner of contemporary filmmaking, from cinematography and lighting to documentaries, music videos and short- form content, there’s a place for work that doesn’t fit traditional boxes. Now entries are landing, the standard is set. If you’ve made something you’re proud of, now is the time. Submit your film, join the conversation and put your work in the spotlight where it belongs.
