third venture, the Old Crown in Girton, offering the same beloved combination of community-centric activities, quality ales and Nepalese cuisine. This month, Sub is expanding further with the takeover of The Angler in Oakham, bringing his total to four thriving establishments. Sub’s pubs are known for their traditional, family-friendly feel and have earned a reputation for excellent quality ale and great value food. “We strongly believe that people want to feel welcome in a good-quality, friendly and consistently well-run pub,” says Sub. “Our pubs are local meeting places, and our customers are respected – not just seen as numbers.” Together, with two talented partners and chefs Ravi Acharya and Purna Man Bajrachaya, Sub aims to bring the rich culinary traditions of his native Nepal to British gastropubs. From mild to very spicy, the food reflects the unique identity of Nepal while incorporating flavours from neighbouring India and Tibet. The menu includes vegetable momos, chilli paneer, onion bhajis and more. You’ll also find mixed grills like sheekh kebab and chicken pakora, along with speciality dishes such as Kathmandu tikka, veggie tarkai, masaura curry, khasi ko masu and rara king

Subodh’s journey began with the takeover of The Railway pub in Whittlesey in August 2022. Within just ten months, he transformed it into a bustling pub and restaurant, celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere, regular sports broadcasts and an enticing Nepalese menu.
