REVIEW: WINE TASTING AT BROADWAY CELLARS
The wines and ports we were sampling were accompanied by cheese and charcuterie – a perfect combination. Of the eight wines sampled, I marked seven with a big smiley face – my favourite was the 2021 Val do Inferno, a vibrant red. The best port had to be the ten-year-old tawny. Our wine tasting evening at Broadway Cellars in St Ives was hosted by Mark Weaver of Quinta de La Rosa, a family-run vineyard on the River Douro in Portugal that dates back to 1815. Sharing the history of the vineyard and some childhood anecdotes, he answered his audience’s questions with the confidence of someone who knows the business and industry inside out.
