STOCKING UP

DASHING THROUGH THE SNOW ADDENBROOKE’S CHARITABLE TRUST Schools across the East of England will be taking up the baton and bolting around the playground in festive garb for the sake of charity this Christmas. Teachers and students alike are encouraged to walk or run to fundraise for Addenbrooke’s and Rosie hospitals. Contact the team at fundraising@act4addenbrookes.org.uk to take part. Every Christmas, homelessness charity and night shelter Jimmy’s puts together a wish list to urge members of the community to support the city’s rough sleepers. Calling for essential items such as toiletries, sleeping bags and travel mugs, the charity also welcomes other bits and bobs that will spread festive cheer. “Christmas is a well–documented time for giving and sharing,” says Barry Griffiths, community engagement officer. “For us here at Jimmy’s, it’s important for our residents to feel they are valued, supported and thought about. Whether by gifts, cards or food donations, we can show what we already know to be true: Cambridge is a caring place for everybody, no matter what situation they find themselves in.” Find out more about donating at jimmyscambridge.org.uk

SANTA’S SLEIGH

Delivering Christmas hampers to families around the Sawston area, this charity supplied 162 packages last year. But this year, 200 households are in need, making your support more valued than ever. johnhuntingdon.org.uk
