SAVOUR & SIP

Crosstown’s festive doughnut offering gets bigger and better each year. This Christmas sees the introduction of five lip-smacking flavours, including brown butter and chestnut, pear and ginger, Christmas pudding and black forest cake. But the star of the show is the date and miso caramel, combining sweet medjool dates with white miso, filled with a gold chocolate and date custard. The doughnut is covered in a miso caramel glaze and finished with a sesame brittle – and a light dusting of gold shimmer for added sparkle! Also new this year are Crosstown’s very own biscuits. Try chocolate and hazelnut flavour, or buttery vanilla biscuits with gorgeous gianduja ganache. Opt for the cinnamon and blackberry biscuit for an intense burst of Christmas. CROSSTOWN XMAS LET IT DOUGH!

Piping hot DOWN BY THE RIVER

Cafe Foy has added two mouth-watering drinks to its menu of winter warmers, with Terry’s Chocolate Orange and Biscoff hot chocolates. These molten treats join the stunning Baileys hot chocolate – which tastes like Christmas in a cup. For something a little stronger, try the mulled wine – savour it while you watch the city’s Christmas lights twinkling on the Cam.

SHIPSHAPE Community pub gets a fresh new look Wells & Co’s Cambridge-based community pub, The Ship, has recently opened again following a full refurbishment and revamp. MRP Architects was responsible for redesigning the pub – once a police station – creating open and inviting spaces, as well as pub games like pool and darts. Along with its new look, the pub will offer a refreshed menu with classic pub grub including fish and chips, sausage and mash, BBQ chicken wings, burgers and pizza. And there’s a fantastic collection of wines, spirits and fresh cask ale produced at Wells & Co’s award-winning brewery in Bedford. “The Ship has undergone a complete transformation and it is nothing short of amazing,” says Mo, the new landlady. “It’s fresh, all new – and incredible. We’re very excited to be returning to the pub once again and look forward to welcoming back new and old customers, friends and family.”
