Streets ahead ELY CHRISTMAS MARKETS
Ely’s regular markets on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays also offer a range of craft, food and vintage stalls – plus the freshest produce, meat, fish and much more. “In the festive season, every market is a Christmas market,” adds Julia. “There’s arts and crafts by local makers alongside artisanal food and regional produce. We’re known for street food from all around the world and there’s plenty of space to sit, relax and soak up the atmosphere.”
A trip to Ely is a must at Christmas time, with its vibrant offering of festive markets, spectacular carolling and seasonal music in the Cathedral, and action-packed markets taking place each week. On Fridays, there will be food and gift markets between 10am and 4pm, where visitors will find lots of delicious seasonal street food, coffee and treats. On Friday 23 December, find a festive craft and farmers’ market, followed by another on Christmas Eve – both running from
8.30am to 3.30pm. “Our Christmas Craft and Farmers’ Markets on 23 and 24 December are your last chance to shop for Christmas,” says Julia Davis from Ely Markets. “Our farmers always pull out all the stops at Christmas and this year you can expect to see artisan cheese, locally grown vegetables and the finest game, venison and Aberdeen Angus beef. You’ll even find Christmas trees, wreaths and flowers to decorate your table.”
