LOVE LOCAL

Kenjo Ho has found the warmest of welcomes in Cambridge since relocating for a clinical fellowship at Addenbrooke’s

In the mornings, I love sitting opposite King’s College with a coffee and a Chelsea bun, watching the rush of bikes weaving through the streets while people go about their day, and enjoying a quiet moment as the city slowly comes to life. One of the best cultural experiences I’ve had here is visiting the Fitzwilliam Museum. The permanent collection alone is impressive, but it’s especially great when there’s a special exhibition on. At the moment, it’s Made in Ancient Egypt , which is fascinating. When people ask me for local recommendations, I always point them to Hot Numbers or Bould Brothers for a great coffee. For a special night out, Margaret’s serves fantastic food featuring local

I’ve been living in Cambridge for just over a year now, having moved here from Sydney, Australia, to take up a clinical fellowship in pediatric anaesthesia at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Cambridge has been a fantastic place to live and work. It’s intellectually vibrant, welcoming and a great base for both professional growth and exploring Europe. I love it here because Cambridge is such a beautiful city with stunning historic buildings. There’s something really special about walking the same streets as those who’ve made world-changing discoveries over the years. The people are lovely too. Special shout out to my colleagues at the hospital and the consultant anaesthetists that I work closely with, who’ve been incredibly supportive.

produce. I also suggest Mill Road, which is full of brilliant cafes, shops and restaurants offering authentic regional cuisines. One thing I’ve never done here, but plan to, is punting by myself. I’ve done a guided punting tour on the River Cam in summer and it was absolutely beautiful, so learning to do it ‘DIY’ feels like the next step. I will probably need a good teacher though, as I’d rather not fall into the river and make a fool of myself… although I’m sure it would be very entertaining for anyone watching!
