THE BURLEIGH ARMS CELEBRATES AWARD-WINNING YEAR WITH CHEF’S BOOK LAUNCH The Burleigh Arms in Cambridge has marked the end of its first year under publican Tom Arnold, earning recognition for its food and hospitality along the way. The Ivy relaunches iconic menu
The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie is expanding its much-loved, two-course £19.17 set menu that celebrates 1917: the year the first Ivy restaurant opened in London. Available across The Ivy Collection, the menu now has an extra two dishes per course. Starters include a French onion soup, topped with cheese croutons and parsley; a duck liver parfait with caramelised hazelnuts, toasted brioche and apricot and apple chutney; as well as salt and pepper calamari with a sesame and gochujang glaze and Asian slaw. Stars of the mains include The Ivy classic shepherd’s pie, made with slow-braised lamb and beef, topped with cheddar mash and served with a rosemary and red wine sauce; a pan-fried
sea bream with shaved fennel, Granny Smith apples, chives and white wine velouté; and a rich and creamy wild mushroom and truffle linguine. Desserts and extras are also available. The £19.17 menu is available until 28 February (except Valentine’s Day). Visit ivycollection.com
Ancient Shepherds hosts charity lunch In January, Mark Poynton and his business partners Gareth and Emma John hosted a fundraising lunch at Ancient Shepherds, continuing their support for local charities. Diners enjoyed Fen Ditton Jerusalem artichoke velouté with smoked duck and sherry vinegar jelly (amuse bouche), Cured Chalkstream
trout, cucumber, yoghurt and dill, and 70-day aged sirloin, red onion, apple, horseradish, celeriac and red wine – plus a signature Mark Poynton dessert, an apricot and almond ice cream sandwich with Amaretto. Proceeds were split between Centre 33, which offers confidential, free support to local young people, and Jimmy’s, which provides housing and assistance to those experiencing homelessness in Cambridge.
