INTER IORS

NEPTUNE HARSTON

WHAT’S THE VIBE? Visiting the new Neptune Cambridge store is more akin to popping into an – impeccably styled – friend’s home than a shop. Step inside and you’ll be greeted by Neptune’s signature calming aesthetic and also a warm welcome. Like all of its characterful stores (there are more than 30 across the UK), making yourself at home is very much encouraged. “At Neptune we believe that if you need to kick off your shoes and settle into an armchair to know that it’s the one for you, then you absolutely should,” says the store’s leader, Jasper Burnham. “Children, and four-legged members of the family, are more than welcome, too. And our kettle’s always on to keep you well fuelled while pondering important decisions.” WHAT IS THE ETHOS? Founded in 1996 by friends John Sims- Hilditch and Giles Redman, Neptune is an interiors retailer recognised for its exacting standards, design-led aesthetic and expert craftsmanship. Perhaps most well-known for its kitchens, every Neptune piece is designed for a lifetime of use, with its trademark ‘look’ being rooted in British heritage and craftsmanship. At Neptune Cambridge, you’ll wander through not just living room-like and bedroom-like settings, but proper rooms, complete with wood-burning stoves lit on colder days and working ovens in the kitchens. You might even spot someone baking away. It’s all so
